Materials

Building a 8×8 greenhouse

The first step of the project is to build the beams for the base of the greenhouse. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to make notches to both ends of the beams. Make parallel cuts to the marked areas and then remove the excess with a chisel. Smooth the surface with sandpaper.

Assemble the base for the 8×8 greenhouse, as shown in the free plans. Make sure the corners are square and lock them together with screws. Drill pilot holes through the beams and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock everything tightly. Fit the base to the selected location and then lock it into place with 2×2 stakes. The stakes will lock the base into place tightly.

Use 2×4 lumber for the side walls of the wood greenhouse. First of all, you need to cut all the components to the appropriate size using a miter saw. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. Make sure the corners are square and check if the edges are flush. As you can easily see in the diagrams, you need to frame the vents, as you can cool the greenhouse during the hot summer days.

Continue the project by framing the front and back walls for the 8×8 greenhouse. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs.

Fit the wall frames to the base and then use a spirit level to make sure they are plumb. Drill pilot holes though the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the base. In addition, you need to lock the adjacent walls together by drilling pilot holes and insert 21/2″ screws.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. In order to get a professional result, fill the holes and the gaps with wood filler and let it dry out for a few hours.
