Blackened Salmon BLT and Spiked Peach Tea. 2 hour lunch due to slow service.

Sunday lunch with friends for a birthday celebration. Reservation made online, confirmed by text, worked perfectly. The limited menu didn't offer much for our vegan friends, basically a choice of 2 salads. However, the rest of us were served large portions of deliciousness. The photo...shown is the Blackened salmon BLT with sweet potato fries and a Spiked Peach Tea, both were excellent choices. Others enjoyed the cuban sandwich and tacos. It could have been a 5 star review, but service was VERY slow. Our drink order took quite a while, and a couple of the guests were served after everyone else. The food took a little too long, considering the place was not that busy. Our server was making an effort but spread too thin. Seated outside on the first floor, he was also serving guests upstairs as well, so we didn't see him too often. For the price we expected better service. Management is responsible for kitchen and staff efficiency and needs to know there's room for improvement.More

Sunday brunch

Went to The Mansion for Sunday brunch. Had made a reservation, but didn’t appear to be necessary. Sat up on the terrace and had a very attentive waiter. The plates were overflowing with food when they arrived. Everything looked and tasted good. Finished off with...an Irish coffee.More

Lovely Lunch

Found this quaint place for lunch after a visit to the Rossetter House. It has a lot of outside seating but the day we visited was a cold, windy day so we ate inside. I had the marguerita flatbread which was very tasty and hot...on a cold day, followed by the Death by Chocolate for dessert. The food was delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. I would love to return on a warmer day and enjoy their outside seating area.More

Poor service and food just okay

This place has a nice atmosphere but we sat outside the the terrace and there was only one server for a crowded lunch crowd. The food was okay but it took over an hour to get our food and the server never even checked out...n it. We had to go ask what the issue was. Then had to go ask against n for our check. We won’t be back.More

Gordon Ramsey=please help!

Visited here for their Thanksgiving Day event and this was our first ever visit, so I am taking the special holiday circ*mstances into consideration in this review. First the positives: our reservations were honored and they had a table set and ready for our party....They had an enormous amount of staff on site; including receptionists, and servers as well as bus people for clearing tables and roaming staff to assist in whatever needs arose. All the staff were cheerful and pleasant, helpful with menu questions. The establishment was busy and became more so as the afternoon progressed. We ate inside ( they do have an outside terrace)...and the noise level inside made it difficult for our party to converse. The holiday menu offerings were varied with nice choices, from traditional Thanksgiving fare to a ham selection, seafood and vegetarian choices. The serving were enormous, all of my party had left overs (unusual for my group).The food however was unimagined and frankly over seasoned with salt. Nothing special about the preparation. The cranberry sauce was served in a tiny condiment cup. The establishment ran out of glassware and so drinks had to be served in plastic cups.Several desert selections were offered but all the desert was made off site by another establishment...the slice of pumpkin pie was huge but rather plain. The establishment has a large wine cellar and apparently offers wine tasting events....in short, it seems that this place is trying to figure out what it wants to be, or maybe is trying to be too many things; are the owners trying to be a restaurant, a bar, an up scale drinking establishment or an event locale?As a restaurant, at least on this one occasion, the food, while served in large portions, is uninspiring, over seasoned and nothing special....I do think an experienced restauranteer could offer some advice to make this place exceptional!More

Good food, Large portions

Large portions. The OctoberFest special S were very good. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was excellent and would make a good meal. Service was great. We were hoping for Espresso or at least coffee. The server said they weren’t a coffee place.

Excellent service

We sat in the upstairs terrace area and we were really impressed. We only stayed for drinks but the service by the bar staff was excellent. They were helpful and friendly.

Would return; delish lobster roll

Referred to this place by a local. Several venues in one, and due to rain we had to sit inside. Good atmosphere though. Great co*cktails, although the Paloma was almost accidentally strong. We got the lobster. Roll, Poké bowl, several appetizers. All were amazing.

You got to be kidding?

I ordered the Loaded Mansion Chips for $12,and added guacamole- $3. The server asked if I wanted lettuce and sour cream. I said fine. My plate arrived with 90% soggy nachos with a thin layer of black beans and corn, covered with lettuce and...tomatoes, raw jalapeños slices, and a small amount of quac and sour cream. About 1 Tablespoon. The quac was terrible. The soggy chips disintegrated into the mixture. (See foto). Then I got the bill. I was charged an extra $3 for the quac, $.75 for sour cream , $ 2 for freakin lettuce , and $1.50 for extra nachos. Not a happy camper. I can get a better meal at Taco Bell for 1/5 the price. I gave a 2 rating because the server was ok and everyone else were satisfied with their meal. Just avoid the nachos.More

Melbourne gem!!

What a gem! My husband and I have been coming to Melbourne since the ‘90’s and sadly never spotted this place. Sooo glad we did! From the amazing bar menu w/great co*cktails & whiskey flights (at really reasonable prices), fantastic food to the attentive service...at the bar, we were blown away. Started w/ bacon wrapped bbq shrimp-huge & perfectly cooked & I had the Muffaletta for entree. The sandwich was HUGE!!! and freaking delicious!!! Onion rings on the side were spot on. You could bite into a ring & the breading didn’t all come off (my pet peeve). The co*cktails were very well made and made with top shelf booze. If you are anywhere on the central east coast if FLA…COME HERE!!More

Disappointing visit

I have been visiting Melbourne twice a year for the past 15 years and have never missed a visit here. Unfortunately, our visit last week was very disappointing. Sat on the beautiful deck and there were only a few other tables taken. Service was very...poor and we waited 45 minutes for our meals and one of them was a salad. The fries were cold and we asked for another portion. I asked for Salmon and was given Chicken. The whole experience was very poor.When the cheque came I asked for my meal to be take off and explained again, the reason why we were not happy. The server was very disinterested and just took $5 off.Sad that I now feel I will not revisit as there are many more new places that are more eager to please and keep you business.More

Always a good choice when visiting!

When in Melbourne we always try to visit the Mansion mostly because we Love the roof top atmosphere!Our meals were very good , exactly what we ordered and the service was attentive. After dining it's fun to explore the grounds and wine cellar, This...is a great stop for couples or meet up groups.More

Good rooftop bar

Rooftop with views of the river. Good place to get drinks after work. Appetizers were ok not great. Closes early on Sunday evenings.

Odd and uncomfortable place

There seems to be no direction with this place, both in terms of ambience and menu. It feels disjointed and the food is awful. Lots of potential with a nice view, but needs better management for sure.

Excellent in all aspects!!

Went to the Mansion for date night with my wife. It was a bit of a maze to find where to go to be seated. Eventually we found where to go. Reading the signs would have helped. Tall Nick was our waiter. He did a...great job explaining the specials and making some good recommendations. We got the crab cakes and the salmon. We both like both dishes and split them up. They came out timely and the presentation was nice. We agreed that both were really great. The salmon probably won the "which was better" contest but only by slim margin. I normally wouldn't choose spinach greens as a side but they were really good as were the potatoes. Compliments to Nick and the chefs. The food was really good and we will definitely go back.More

No masks anywhere. Staff isn’t wearing gloves either when bringing you food or drinks. Absolutely zero respect for official health recommendation.

Maybe as a special but not on their regular menu. I'd suggest The Seafood Station almost across the street from The Mansion. They only have outdoor seating but my w that the weather is cooler it is very good.
