Ernst & Young is laying off dozens of U.S. partners as part of a cost-cutting push after the firm's failed split earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal reports. Most of the affected jobs — about 130 in total — are in the consulting and strategy and transactions divisions, while a few are in the tax and audit units. EY is not the only accounting and consulting firm to cut back in recent months as revenue slows after a boom in demand during the pandemic. The company already axed about 3,000 U.S. employees back in April. KPMG cut about 5% of its U.S. workforce over the summer, and Deloitte laid off about 1.5% in April, while McKinsey shrank its new partner class by more than a third.

Interesting to see in Belfast right now, out of the BIG 4, EY are clearly following PwCs Operate format promising 1000 new jobs, whilst Deloitte is making 3% of their workforce redundant, both firms operate in the same sphere, it is interesting the see the contrasting proposals...

Having the opportunity to attend the Pwc inclusion and diversity programme enabled me to develop the understanding in what kind of support is accessible. It was said that growth happens in a position when your are most uncomfortable which I could not agree more on. This also gave me a chance to network with pwc employers and get to know more about the different career opportunities. #pwc #networkingevent #futurecareers #tax #audit #advisory

Big four consulting firm EY is planning to cut more than 100 roles next week, or more than 1 per cent of its 10,000-strong workforce, due to the persistent downturn in the advisory market. The cuts follow the firm culling dozens of partnersand more than240 staff in the second half of 2023.The Australian Financial Reviewunderstands that the losses will mainly come from the consulting and financial advisory divisions with final numbers still being determined.https://lnkd.in/gScxpiuN

I've been at PwC for almost a year now and it's been a big year for the company too. In a challenging year, PwC UK demonstrated its resilience by achieving 16% growth and £5.8bn in revenue. Investing in its people and keeping an unwavering commitment to clients remained a key priority. A timely warning for all businesspeople: a big name is on the brink. PwC Australia, one of the BIG 4 firms, is allegedly on the nose. The attached article is a must-read for anyone looking to get to the bottom of the whys and wherefores. The expose highlights the firm's mismanagement and poor leadership, which has led to its fall from grace. Once seen as a top graduate job, it's now a cautionary tale of what can happen when corporate giants become complacent. This news is a stark reminder of the failures of the massive ratings companies over the 2008 monetary crisis. Could the BIG 4 become the BIG 3? Share your thoughts in the comments below. What do you think?Do you care and have you a story to share about PWC?Is this just indicative of large slow-moving companies that are not able to keep up with the fast pace of change in 2024? #big4 #big3 #pwc #australia #mismanagement #poorleadership

In a sweeping restructure aimed at realigning with a fresh strategic vision, PwC Australia has announced the termination of 366 positions, affecting both staff and partners. This move comes on the heels of a controversial year, notably involving the misuse of confidential government briefings by its tax practice. CEO Kevin Burrowes emphasizes the reorganization's necessity for a simplified, efficient business model, despite acknowledging the hardships it brings to the affected individuals. With an eye on future growth and efficiency, PwC is also streamlining its leadership, adding key roles to its management team in a bid to enhance service quality.Follow Outback Briefs to stay up to date with Australian Business News!#australia #australianews #businessnews #pwc #pwcjobcuts #jobcuts #pricewaterhousecoopers #consulting #taxscandal

Why is a career as an consultant inspiring? Yesterday I was together with my high-skilled colleagues where we got an in depth introduction to the different competencies across Consutancy in PwC - and what a blast. Transform tomorrow Today is not a catchy slogan for PwC, it’s tangible, real and actionable. So if you want to hear more on how we in PwC can help solving your problem, reach out and I’ll bring Coffee and a Colleague. See you in real life#pwc #successskabervisammen #transformPs: In the picture is my colleague Rune Pind Nielsen presenting how we can help creating the future finance function

How do Big Four graduate programs compare to those offered by mid-tier firms? 🤔 Interesting report by FT on delayed promotions for graduates of PwC, which appears to follow the drop in demand for consultancy services which peaked post-Covid. It would appear that many clients (and candidates) are opting to leave the Big Four in favour of mid-tier firms which, if anything like UHY Manchester, are experiencing tremendous growth.Graduate programs offered by the Big Four are full of promise and are fiercely competitive, but are they really the most attractive option? In my experience, mid-tier firms offer; - Better work-life balance - A healthier culture - More opportunities to work on jobs end-to-end - Significantly more personable progression plans I have friends that enrolled at Big Four firms out of college and university who are now in completely different careers. When they talk about their experiences, they couldn't be further apart from my own at a mid-tier firm, and I can't help but wonder whether it was the environment rather than the role that pushed them away from the industry. To quote the article; “None of us can understand the logic they’ve used to choose September grads over us. They [PwC] might as well have picked our names out of a hat". Don't know about you, but that doesn't sound like the sort of environment I'm used to.
