Get ready for a week of sunshine! The latest weather forecast predicts mostly dry and sunny conditions across Kenya. But, as always, there's more to the story than just clear skies... Let's dive in!
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, the majority of the country can expect pleasant weather this week. However, certain regions should prepare for potential rainfall. These areas include the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the South-eastern Lowlands. It's always good to be prepared, right?
Daytime temperatures are expected to soar above 30°C in several areas. This includes the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern Lowlands, Rift Valley, and Western Kenya. So, if you're in these regions, remember to stay hydrated and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day.
And this is the part most people miss... Night-time temperatures could dip below 10°C in specific locations. These include parts of the Central Highlands, North and Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro. This means packing a warm jacket might be a good idea if you're in these areas.
Looking back at the previous week's weather patterns, we see a slight decrease in overall rainfall, although some areas did experience precipitation. The highest seven-day total rainfall was recorded at 45.9 mm at Kavingo Station in Kitui County.
Temperature extremes? Absolutely! The highest maximum temperature reached a scorching 37.2°C in Mandera on November 25th. Conversely, the lowest minimum temperature was a chilly 4.6°C in Nyahururu on November 27th. That's quite a contrast!
The forecast, released on November 29th, covers the week of November 25th to December 1st. It highlights the likelihood of continued dry conditions for most of Kenya, with isolated rainfall expected in the regions mentioned earlier.
Kenya Met has also issued a heads-up for areas that might experience both high daytime temperatures and cooler nights, advising residents to take necessary precautions.
Now, let's rewind to the week of November 17th to November 23rd, 2025. During this period, rainfall was observed in a few areas, although the overall amounts were generally decreasing across the country. The report highlighted some key weather events. The highest 24-hour rainfall was 37.1 mm, recorded at Mruru Station in Taita Taveta on November 18th. Mandera Station recorded the highest maximum temperature at 37.3°C, also on November 18th. And finally, Nyahururu Station reported the lowest minimum temperature at 5.4°C on November 22nd.
