Fernando Alonso expresses his curiosity in witnessing the transition of world rally champion Kalle Rovanpera to single-seater racing next year. Rovanpera's recent announcement of retirement from rally competition and his upcoming move to the Super Formula championship in Japan has sparked Alonso's interest.
The rare career path from rally to single-seaters has captured Alonso's attention, and he shares his thoughts with media outlets, including RacingNews365. "I'm curious to see how he does," Alonso remarks. "He's an incredibly talented driver. He will undoubtedly encounter challenges, depending on the series he chooses."
Alonso anticipates a significant challenge from the get-go, acknowledging the rarity of such a transition. "But already from next year, I think it will be a pretty important challenge," he adds. Rovanpera's entry into the Super Formula campaign is supported by Toyota Gazoo Racing, marking a significant change for the two-time WRC champion. Despite the drastic shift, Alonso believes Rovanpera is well-prepared.
