CS Ruku Accuses Gachagua of Undermining Mt Kenya Leaders' Credibility
Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has publicly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his recent remarks questioning the credibility of Mt Kenya leaders. Ruku's response was strong and direct, describing Gachagua's comments as "uncalled for and unbecoming" of someone who once held the second-highest office in the country.
During an education empowerment program in Mbeere North, Ruku argued that Gachagua's allegations were not only wrong but also divisive, aiming to create disunity within the region. He emphasized that all leaders in Mt Kenya have merit, substance, and diligently serve their people, and such statements are unexpected from someone claiming to represent the region's interests.
Ruku further challenged Gachagua's authority, stating that the former Deputy President has no moral right to question the credibility and integrity of leaders who have worked tirelessly for their constituents. He praised Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the current leadership structure in Mt Kenya, as a respected international law scholar and a man of integrity.
The Cabinet Secretary urged Gachagua to abandon his "divisive politics" and focus on unity and development. Ruku expressed confidence in the government's performance in upcoming by-elections across Mt Kenya, highlighting that unity and development remain the core of their political strategy.
Ruku also predicted success for the government-backed candidate in Mbeere North, Leonard Muthende, who is running for the parliamentary seat. He believes that the people of Mbeere North, known for their intelligence and development-oriented mindset, will support Muthende, showing their confidence in President William Ruto's leadership and the Kenya Kwanza agenda.
The campaign trail took CS Ruku to Mumìnjì and Evurore wards, where he held a significant rally at Kanyuambora Stadium, not far from the residence of former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti, who is backing the United Opposition candidate in the by-election. This rally also took place in the vicinity of former Attorney General and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, further emphasizing the political dynamics at play.
